About CBCB

ABOUT
CBCB

In 1996 a handful of determined cannabis activists had a dream of providing safe legal cannabis for the people. Starting with nothing more than a rolodex full of the best farmers in Northern California, we set up operations at an anarchist bookstore across the street from our current location. Joining forces with like-minded citizens, we worked to create compassion programs and community centers, lobbied for propositions that made cannabis available to medical patients, and protested inhumane federal sentencing for cannabis.

Eventually moving into the building CBCB exists in today, team CBCB stayed on the forefront by being among the first in the state to test all cannabis products for safety and cannabinoid composition, placed first in competitions for our Speciale’ brand flower and created unique cannabinoid genetics to introduce to the market, as well as a terpene testing system to better identify individual strains effects.

Today as the oldest dispensary in America, we continue to provide cannabis for all and are still local activist, woman and family owned and operated. Our customers are our family and many for 20 years and more. Student, teacher, senior, veteran discounts, Compassionate patient care program, Low income assistance, free food pantry and free holiday dinners. CBCB still specializes in the same empathy and care that it was founded on, while staying on the forefront of cannabis science.  We look forward to you becoming a part of our family.

Where Did It Begin?

‘Aundre Speciale is a pioneer, whose journey began alongside Jack Herer in California on the hemp bus to spread the word about the myriad benefits of hemp. Aundre’s dedication to cannabis advocacy, is unparalleled from grassroots community, organizing to opening one of California’s first dispensaries in 2004. She has been a trailblazer in promoting compassionate patient services and community responsibility.

Aundre‘s approach goes beyond just dispensing. It’s about building community. She’s been instrumental in opening community centers and fostering close ties with local organizers and officials, ensuring that the cannabis industry is inclusive, welcoming and beneficial to all.

Her legacy is not just in her work, but also in her family with her adult children, Electra and Will joining her in operating Cbcb one of the countries oldest operating dispensaries, located in Berkeley California, the cornerstone of the community since 1996.

Cbcb exemplifies Aundre’s version of a compassionate and responsible cannabis industry.
